We may not know the future. But we do know that God is in charge and that His love is certain.

While there are many traits we try to develop — courage, wisdom, and others — we must always remember that our kindness and compassion are most valued in the eyes of God. When we willingly and generously serve others, we, too, pass the kindness test.

The world can be a place of selfishness and cruelty, or it can be a place of kindness, enjoyment, and happiness. It all depends on our attitude toward the blessings that God has put before us.

When we feel stuck or trapped and then someone comes along and saves us. The sages teach us that this is a small taste of the ultimate salvation that we all long for.

If we deny our godly nature and live a life filled with physicality, solely focused on gaining pleasure and power, then we are no greater than animals.

By seeing “charity” through the lens of tzedakah, we become more compassionate and generous because tzedakah is simply the right thing to do.

There is a deeper problem with arrogant bragging than simply the annoyance of listening to someone who talks about themself too much. Boasting is actually a problem of faith.

He wants us to “love mercy.” In other words, we aren’t supposed to wait until a person or situation worthy of our mercies happens to come our way. He wants us to be proactive, to be aware and on alert at all times to situations that call out for our help. We are to seek out and pursue mercy whenever possible!

Now, because of that kindness, 600,000 people waited respectfully for Miriam so that she would be cared for. No matter how long it may take, kindness is always repaid.

What this means is that for the rest of us, giving regularly and generously only benefits us, materially and spiritually.

Some people appear righteous on the outside, but on the inside, they just aren’t the same.

Sharing our stories — both collective and personal — is the lifeblood of faith. When we tell how God’s hand has directed our lives, we remember His presence in our own lives and inspire others to see Him in theirs.
