The Christian observance of Easter resonates back to the story of the Jews’ escape and deliverance from Egyptian bondage three thousand years ago.

Someone who seeks out the positive aspects of life and makes a decision to focus on what is good will see God’s blessings everywhere.

In this week’s Torah reading, we find a recipe for cultivating gratitude—one that helps us see the many ways God’s blessings are manifested in our lives.

We need to burn up natural inclination to conform and become inspired to forge our own path. We need to stand up and speak the truth—even if we’re standing alone.

By doing their part, by arranging the wood and lighting the fire, the priests were demonstrating that while they fully relied upon God and believed in His abilities, they didn’t take them for granted for even one moment.

I believe that God calls out to us in a whisper every day of our lives. He presents Himself in the daily opportunities that we have to choose goodness, kindness, and godliness.

I want to encourage us today to do an extra act of kindness. Those merciful acts bring blessings to the giver and the receiver.

When we are kind to ourselves, we are likely to show kindness to others. But, if we neglect or inadvertently harm ourselves, we are more likely to lash out and act cruelly.

The purpose of the tablets was to serve as physical evidence of our encounter and relationship with God, a testimony of God’s covenant.

The tachash, whose only purpose seemingly was to cover the Tabernacle, reminded all who saw it that there is only one true purpose for all things: the glory of God.

They made everything exactly as God wanted it, because that is what He told them to do. This obedience to God’s instructions was a sign of their love and devotion. Because God said so.

Just imagine, this Jewish man was on his way to the Temple, ready to give his annual half shekel and he dropped it! And now we found it 2,000 years later!
