As Jews around the world prepare to observe Passover — the most important holiday on the Jewish calendar — we think of God’s deliverance, of His protection over His people. And we celebrate.

In this conversation with Christian leader Dr. Steve Greene, IFCJ Canada President Yael Eckstein shares stories of our work to support Ukrainian refugees as well as those unable to leave the war-torn country.

This evening at sundown, Jewish people around the world will begin the celebration of Purim, one of the most joyful holidays on the Jewish calendar. But in the midst of this joy, we are witnessing such suffering in Ukraine.

All of our hearts break as we see tragedy unfolding in Ukraine. Writing at The Washington Times, Yael talks of this heartbreak, but also of being inspired by how we have come together to help those in need.

While our hearts continue to break for the hundreds of thousands of people trying to flee Ukraine — and as we continue to provide aid to as many as we can — our hearts burst with thanksgiving, as well.

As war continues to threaten the people of Ukraine, Yael comes to us to explain the changing needs of this troubled nation, as well as how IFCJ Canada is helping on the ground — evacuating thousands, feeding those in need, and providing basic needs to those in harm’s way.

As many of us are closely following the news, we see that tensions continue to rise between Russia and Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of lives are at risk — including thousands of elderly and Holocaust survivors.

This International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust. But despite anti-Semitism again growing around the world, Yael writes at The Washington Examiner that, for the first time in their history, the Jewish people have two reasons for hope.

In Leviticus, God promises that when we refrain from working the land in the seventh year, the sabbatical year, He will bless us with abundance. This is what He says: “I will send you such a blessing in the sixth year that the land will yield enough for three years” (Leviticus 25:21).
