Fellowship Survey Reveals Financial Strain on Israeli Families

A Fellowship-commissioned survey revealed the financial toll the war has taken on Israeli households since October 7, 2023, has taken on Israeli households, with 43% of respondents saying their economic situation has worsened over the last three years. Additionally, 63% said they have had to cut back on expenses like clothing to maintain their food budget.                     

This is also a challenging time of year for families as parents work to ensure their children have everything they need to return to school. Sadly, 23% of parents report not having enough money to purchase all the required school supplies, while 58% say the rising cost of living is making it harder to prepare their children for the school year. More than 75% have delayed purchasing clothing for their children, and nearly one in four describe their financial situation as severe. Many children are also feeling the anxiety that comes with starting a new school year. 

In response to these needs, IFCJ Canada is helping families begin the school year with greater dignity and peace of mind. Through the generosity of our donors, IFCJ Canada distributed clothing gift cards to 8,200 children and teens in need, along with 688 backpacks filled with essential school supplies. This practical support helps ease the financial burden on struggling families and ensures children can return to school feeling prepared, cared for, and supported.
