When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous
but terror to evildoers. — Proverbs 21:15

We continue with devotional thoughts from the Book of Proverbs every Friday. One of the 11 books in the Torah known as the Ketuvim, Hebrew for “writings,” Proverbs is part of the “wisdom tradition,” which also includes Job and Ecclesiastes.

One of the constant struggles that Israel faces, is the struggle for truth. Today, we have millions of Christians who are vocal supporters of the Jewish people. That is something that we did not have over the centuries of our exile. Christians worldwide who recognize and spread the truth about Israel give us the strength to face the false accusations that are thrown our way and to keep fighting against adversarial voices.

Bring Joy to the Righteous

Proverbs teaches that “When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.” Justice is the practical application of truth. The righteous, those who are aligned with God’s truth, want nothing more than the victory of good over evil, of truth over falsehood.

When justice is served, there is a sense that good has prevailed. With each victory of good over evil, there is a feeling that we are one step closer to God’s kingdom on earth, bringing joy to the righteous. The public defense of the Jewish people against false accusations brings justice to light. When these truths are shared widely by the friends of Israel worldwide, we know that we are not alone.

Christian support for Israel brings confidence to the Jewish people. This confidence directly contributes and “brings joy to the righteous”!
