You Mean the World to Her

Lydia has survived so much in her life. She survived the Holocaust. She survived decades under Soviet rule. She survived all of these things long enough to at last make aliyah (immigration to Israel) with her beloved husband and their disabled daughter, moving to their biblical homeland.

Lydia’s husband died shortly after they arrived, however, leaving her to care for their daughter, who requires round-the-clock care. With her own health failing, and without a pension to help pay for even basic necessities, Lydia wasn’t sure she would survive.

But, as she always has throughout her more than eight decades of life, Lydia remained faithful. And now, thanks to regular visits from Fellowship volunteers, this precious Holocaust survivor and her daughter now receive food, medicine, and help with medical treatment.

“This means the world to me,” Lydia told Fellowship volunteers during a recent visit. “There’s no need for me to worry about how I’ll pay for food every month, knowing that there are so many people who care about me, and want to help me.”
