This past Passover — their first since returning home to Sderot — a Fellowship volunteer arrived with a holiday food box, bringing not only nourishment, but a powerful reminder that they are seen, supported, and not forgotten.

Felia and her husband Yefim are both Holocaust survivors who endured unimaginable loss. During the war, they were separated from their families and witnessed the horrors of Nazi brutality. As Yefim poignantly says, “We survived—but not without grief.”

They made the choice to move to Israel with their two children and opened a grocery store in Sderot. “For fifteen years, it was our pride,” says Felia. But on October 7, 2023, everything changed.

“It was six in the morning when our son called and said, ‘do not open the gate, there are terrorists in the city.’ We looked outside and armed men were walking along our fence. They pulled on the gate. It was locked. They moved on,” Felia and Yefim explain. By a miracle, they escaped the tragedy that claimed so many lives that day.

They tell us how they evacuated as little children during World War II, and during the current war were forced to evacuate due to Hamas attacks.

But thankfully, this time, Felia and Yefim are not alone. Their son is safely by their side, and faithful friends around the world are standing with them in love and solidarity.

They say, “We’ve been through so much. Evacuation, war, loss, aliyah and now this war. This fear, it’s different. It settles in your bones … We’re deeply touched by the support of The Fellowship.”
