‘No More Tears to Cry’

When we met 74-year-old Ella, her trembling hands reached for the necklace she always wears. It holds a cherished photo of her two adult children—both tragically taken from her on October 7, 2023.
“I have no more tears to cry from sorrow,” Ella shared, her voice heavy with grief. On that devastating day, Israelis endured unimaginable loss, and for Ella, it felt like her entire world was shattered. “Nobody was there to save them,” she whispered.
Her children had come home to celebrate Simchat Torah, a joyous Jewish holiday meant to honour the Torah and bring families together. But instead of joy, the day was marked by terror. As sirens blared, Ella and her family rushed toward a bomb shelter. In the chaos, her two children were struck down by terrorists before they could reach safety.
Though Ella made it to the shelter, her heart was already broken beyond repair.
When Fellowship volunteers visited Ella, they found a woman carrying the weight of unbearable loss. All they could do was listen—offering her a moment of comfort and care in the midst of her pain.
This is why our mission is so vital. Delivering food, providing essential supplies, and simply being there to listen are lifelines for elderly individuals like Ella. Together, we can bring hope and humanity to those who need it most.
