‘More Support, More Opportunities, and More Hope’ IFCJ Canada | June 5, 2026 For Dmytro and Yuliia, making aliyah (immigration to Israel) was always a dream. But after their son Roman was born with a developmental disability, their focus became caring for him. At six years old, Roman cannot speak, eat solid foods, or manage daily tasks independently. In Ukraine, support for children like him was extremely limited. When the family visited relatives in Israel, they saw something they had never experienced before — specialized care, understanding, and real opportunities for children with special needs. They knew they had found hope for Roman’s future. “We felt that perhaps this was the place where our son could have more support, more opportunities, and more hope,” Dmytro said. After deciding to make aliyah, the family faced yet another obstacle when war with Iran temporarily halted flights to Israel. Still, they never gave up on their dream. With help from IFCJ Canada, they received the guidance and support they needed until they could finally complete their journey. Today, Dmytro, Yuliia, and Roman are building a new life in Haifa near family. “You know, we now have this feeling that we have arrived at a home that had been waiting for us for a very long time,” Dmytro said. Thanks to caring friends like you, families like Dmytro’s can find safety, hope, and the opportunity for a better future in Israel. As more Jewish families seek safety in Israel, the need for help continues to grow. Please make your gift today and help ensure they are not left waiting for the support they need.
