Caring for Zohara

At 92 years old, Zohara has spent a lifetime in the Holy Land—her biblical homeland—where she has built a life surrounded by faith and family. For over a decade, she has relied on IFCJ Canada’s support to help her through life’s hardships.

But in recent years, her challenges have only grown. In 2022, she suffered a debilitating stroke, making daily life even more difficult. Then, heartbreak struck again—one of her sons passed away, and her other son is now gravely ill. Once surrounded by the love and care of her family, Zohara now faces deep sorrow and uncertainty.

When we visited her this past December, we brought a warm blanket to comfort her through the cold winter months and lit the Hanukkah candles together—a reminder that even in the darkest times, God’s light shines. In that moment, Zohara’s spirit was lifted, knowing she was not alone.

Right now, there are so many elderly Jews like Zohara—across Israel, Ukraine, and beyond—who are struggling to survive.

Your gift today will provide them with food, warmth, and lifesaving aid, offering hope and care to God’s children in their time of need.
