This past weekend on October 9-12, The Fellowship attended Awaken the Dawn’s event Communion America at the National Mall in Washington, DC as a sponsor for the first time. This annual faith-based event brings thousands of worshippers in, for a time of sharing God’s word, prayers, and learning. While also promoting an interfaith connection with the covenant of God in mind, The Fellowship also talked about why it’s so important for Christians to stand with Israel and her people.

Special events also included live music performances and 50 tents of sponsors. The Fellowship’s tent was located on the west side of the National Mall, on the same side as the Israel tent. It was a lively time with faithful Christians of all ages learning about God’s sacred promise to the Jewish people of Israel and how Christians are connected to it. Attendees also enjoyed the Israeli flags they were given and proudly waved them in support. Fellowship Ambassador, Carlos Ortiz, also had a public speaking event alongside Lou Engel.

“The amount of support for Israel from Christians was incredible,” said The Fellowship’s U.S. CEO and Global COO Robin Van Etten, “The event fell on Sukkot and the eve of the peace plan signing and hostages being released as the power of prayer from all 50 tents was undeniable. Israelis also visited our tent. They were beaming with smiles and gratitude, telling us that they actually felt safe here. The Saturday evening was a powerful moment as we praised God for answering our prayers to release the hostages. The great Lou Engle led it beautifully.”

IFCJ Canada and its supporters were proud to have taken part in this national faith-based event to rejoice and reflect in prayers alongside our Christian friends over the word of God which brings us together. We thank and bless everyone who came to our tent over the weekend and are so happy for everyone to have joined us in praying for and supporting Israel and her people.
