Project Spotlight: Help for the Elderly IFCJ Canada | May 30, 2024 (Photo: IFCJ) A Fellowship-supported organization in Israel provides help in the community for individuals who are living with various forms of dementia. Thanks to the generous support of donors, Fellowship-affiliated global offices were able to provide a grant to purchase a transportation vehicle that will be a shuttle for the elderly to and from the day centres in Jerusalem. At the day centres, the elderly participate in various activities that help prevent the progression of dementia. In total, 360 elderly will use the shuttle each week. David, one of the elderly who uses the shuttle told us: “I come here every day. We sing, we have lectures, there is also a group of high school youth who come and play cognitive games with us, which is very important and helps our memory. Most of us are in our eighties, and we’re very pleased to come here. We wait for the transportation which is very comfortable.”
