The Montreal Holocaust Museum launched a major campaign targeting anti-Semitism, using testimonials from the families of survivors. This campaign ran from mid April to early May The CJN reports

“The goal was to have as many eyes on it as possible,” Fogg told The CJN, “because antisemitism isn’t only a Jewish problem. We didn’t need to raise awareness in Jewish neighbourhoods, although it would be nice to publicize what we’re doing, of course, but we really prioritized non-Jewish areas, downtown and east Montreal, the Plateau, Mile End, areas like that.”

Passersby were invited to learn more via QR codes to videos about descendants’ experiences of antisemitism and living with the legacy of the Holocaust, clips that have to date been viewed more than 4,000 times.

A big surprise says Fogg, was that campaign materials on the street weren’t vandalized. “You expect graffiti all the time. I was expecting the ads to be defaced too. It would’ve been painful seeing pictures of our grandparents treated that way, but it didn’t happen.”

We continue to pray for Jewish communities in Canada who are facing anti-Semitism, noting that at least 6,800 hate crimes have targeted them in the last year alone.
