Alarming Updates from Ukraine Following Recent Attacks

Damage to Ukrainian apartment building

This morning, IFCJ Canada received alarming updates from our partners in Ukraine following recent Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.

Large parts of Kyiv are now without basic services. Nearly half of the city’s residential buildings are currently without heat, and ongoing disruptions to water and electricity supplies continue to impact daily life.

Emergency crews are operating in crisis mode. Heating has been restored to essential institutions—including hospitals and maternity wards—using mobile heating units. Energy and municipal teams are working around the clock to restore services to residential areas, but the damage to infrastructure is severe, and recovery efforts remain extremely challenging. Harsh weather conditions expected in the coming days threaten to further worsen the situation.

Residents who are able to temporarily relocate to areas with access to electricity, water, and heating are being advised to do so.

Meanwhile, the city of Dnipro is facing a total blackout. The water supply has been deemed unsafe, forcing residents to purchase drinking water. Authorities have declared a critical emergency situation of national scale.

In response, IFCJ Canada continues to provide emergency aid through critical material support—food cards, food and water distribution, warm clothing, blankets, and other essential supplies. In the coming days, we will work to expand this support to reach those most vulnerable and affected by this dire situation.

We urgently need your help to ensure no one is left behind. Please give today.
