With Passover set to begin today at sundown, attacks on central Israeli communities continued Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. The Jerusalem Post reports that 16 people were wounded in these attacks, with Bnei Brak being hit especially hard. Strikes and fires were also reported in Petah Tikva, where rescue forces and volunteers responded to the scene. Sadly, several of those wounded were children.

A 12-year-old girl from Bnei Brak was taken to the hospital in serious condition due to shrapnel injuries, according to Magen David Adom. Her condition reportedly worsened following hospitalization, according to a statement from Sheba Medical Center, which added that it received a total of eight wounded on Wednesday morning, six of whom were children.

“I saw the girl lying in the living room, and her father—who is also an MDA volunteer—had already begun providing initial treatment,” MDA paramedic Meir Zargarian told Walla. “She suffered injuries to her limbs. We stopped the bleeding and evacuated her… in serious condition.”

Zargarian added that her two brothers were also wounded by shrapnel in their legs. Her father’s condition was classified as moderate, according to a later statement from Sheba Medical Center.

MDA also reported transporting a boy and his deaf mother to the hospital from Bnei Brak. They were wounded when the boy tried to wake his mother as sirens began early that morning. He is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Petah Tikva. Meanwhile, 11 people sustained mild injuries, with some being treated on site.

Later in the morning, Iran launched additional strikes targeting communities in northern Israel. No deaths or injuries were reported from these attacks; however, a 6-year-old boy sustained minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle while evacuating to a bomb shelter.

As IFCJ Canada, along with our supporters, continues to help families in Israel who have been displaced and affected by Iran’s attacks, we keep the children in our prayers—for their recovery, safety, and comfort.
