Dovid, 18, was raised in the Ukraine, where his family kept many Jewish traditions despite the anti-Semitism they faced as a result. Several years ago, Dovid was offered the opportunity to live in Israel. His parents knew that in the Holy Land Dovid would have the future he never could have in the Ukraine – in Israel, he would be free to practice his faith without worrying about anti-Semitism. Thought it was a painful decision, they consented to let him go.
Many teenagers would feel lost living so far from home at such a young age. But fortunately when Dovid arrived in Israel he found a new home at Lezion Berina boarding school for boys, funded by The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel program. In the warm, caring environment at Lezion Berina Dovid has found a place where all his needs including food, housing, clothing, education, and medical and social services are provided for.
Though he misses his parents and dreams of the day they will be able to join him, Dovid is deeply grateful that he has been able to live at this extraordinary school. "Lezion Berina is a really special place," he says. "The connection between the students and the staff is unlike anything I have ever experienced and the education has been wonderful."
Dovid thanks The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel for the many opportunities that he has received. "All of the Christians who support this place should be proud of themselves. You're giving young Jews who want to be here an opportunity that we couldn't get anywhere else."
Please give to Guardians of Israel today and help boys like Dovid build their future in Israel with the Jewish people.
