Someone to Help

Luiza was born in Russia in 1927. She was one of five siblings. And she remembers World War II: “The war broke out when I was 13 years old, we all took part in the evacuation; somehow we survived. There was terrible hunger. We would get a piece of bread. And it was food for a whole day. There was nothing more than that. People died of hunger and cold.”
After the war, Luiza studied at university and worked as a pediatrician in the emergency room. She was married for 57 years and has two children. Her husband died 16 years ago, and she has been alone ever since. But she’s happy that she was able to make aliyah (immigration to Israel) after his death, something she did for him. “Israel has always been a dream; my husband talked about Israel all the time,” says Luiza.
At the age of 96, Luiza credits her ability to make aliyah all thanks to friends like you! “You assisted me all the way through my complicated aliyah process. Thanks to this assistance I was able to go through the difficult journey and arrive in Israel.”
“Everyone is very kind here and helps me. Thanks to The Fellowship, I fulfilled an old dream of my deceased husband. The Fellowship helps me with my integration and adaptation in Israel. I feel that I have someone to turn to and someone who will help,” says Luiza.
