As the holiday season is approaching, we are starting to think about gifts for our family, friends and colleagues that will surprise, delight, and show we care. Gifts of Peace do this by providing tangible goods and vital services to children, families and elderly Jews, in Israel and around the world, to those who need them most.
Gifts of Peace will allow you to share the true joy of the season. It is my pleasure to share the 2019 Gifts of Peace catalogue, full of life-changing gift ideas.
Within the next few days, you will receive your catalogue in the mail. But you can also take a few moments to browse the catalogue online. Choose a gift that is personally meaningful to someone special, or select a self-directed gift that will be used where needed most. No matter how you choose, recipients will be inspired by the fact they are helping to change the lives of so many people.
Our Guardians of Israel program eases suffering of Israel’s most needy citizens, providing food, housing, medical care, clothing, and other essentials. There are gifts that provide essentials to the nations young, such as school supplies and hot health lunches, as well as clothing. Or choose gifts that provide elderly with food, medical care, shelter and loving companionship.
The Isaiah 58 program provides food, medical care, housing and other basic assistance to impoverished Jews in the former Soviet Union. It helps finance a network of safe children’s homes throughout the area, and provides frail, isolated elderly with much-needed food, medicine and warmth. We also aid more than 250,000 elderly Jews live in desperate poverty. Many struggle to survive. Many suffer from sickness due to malnutrition. So many suffer through sub-zero temperatures in threadbare clothes: their very lives are at risk.
On Wings of Eagles assists needy Jews in making aliyah (immigrating to Israel). They come from all over the world to escape anti-Semitism and extreme poverty, and to realize the dream of living in their biblical homeland. When they arrive in Israel, we provide them with klitah (resettlement) assistance to help them become full, productive citizens. Because of friends like you, we are seeing prophecy fulfilled today as we gather the Jewish exiles “from the four corners of the earth” (Isaiah 11:12)
