Praying for Food and Warmth
The family can barely afford to feed Vladim, let alone heat their home in the winter…
Vladim, four, shuffles to the bus stop, waiting for a ride to kindergarten. His socks are wet from the rain that has seeped in through the holes in his boots. He is shivering and hungry. He did not have any breakfast.
Vladim and his family have a difficult, stressful life. His mother works hard at her job in the market and comes home every day tired and sore. Her husband works part-time, and searches for a job with longer hours because they can barely afford the basic necessities. Vladim’s elderly grandparents live with his family and just last year, his grandfather needed open-heart surgery, so they took out a loan for the costs.
Today, the family has high debt and can barely afford to feed Vladim, let alone heat their home in the winter.
Thankfully, our Fellowship volunteer saw the poverty this family lives in every day and immediately sent them a food package.
When Vladim’s mother first received food from The Fellowship, she cried tears of joy. Vladim smelled the food and asked where it came from. “The Fellowship has taken it upon themselves to help us,” she told him. “We will no longer go hungry, because they will supply us with food until we are able to support ourselves fully. They have also given us new and warm clothing for you, so that you no longer have to be cold and wear clothing that is torn!”
The family feels so blessed by The Fellowship thanks to Operation Winter Warmth, and they know they wouldn’t survive without our monthly food packages or warm clothes. They hope one day they will be debt-free and can support their family. Thanks to The Fellowship, they have more hope every day.
