Irit: Hope amid the Hardships

For Irit and her family, as for millions of Jews worldwide, Passover is a special observance — the holy festival that commemorates Israel's deliverance from bondage in Egypt in the first Exodus. On that night which was like no other, God redeemed Israel and brought her to birth as a nation.

Irit knows the Passover story well, and clings to its message of hope that God remembers His people. That's important for Irit because, sadly, hope is in short supply in her life. Her struggles only add to the longing she has to observe the Passover in a few weeks (Passover begins at sundown on April 18).

But the truth is that without help from The Fellowship and our Guardians of Israel program for Israel's neediest people, there may be no Passover celebration for Irit, her husband, and their little daughter Bracha (which means "blessing").

This young couple works hard to make ends meet. Despite this, there never seems to be enough money for all bills. Certainly not enough to purchase the fresh produce, matzah (unleavened bread), fish, meat, and other elements needed for the Passover Seder meal.

If Irit cannot celebrate the Passover, the hardest part for her will be disappointing Bracha. "Bracha loves it when we celebrate holidays like Passover," Irit said. "She gets so excited."

Irit has endured many hardships; yet, she has never lost faith in God's goodness. "Financially it is very hard, but God always comes through," she said with a smile.

You can help give thousands of struggling Israelis like Irit and her family new hope today through your donation to Guardians of Israel and our Passover food package project. This holiday outreach provides needy Jews with a box filled with all the needed elements for their Passover observance.

We need to purchase and distribute these food boxes as quickly as possible so the families will have them in time for Passover.

Please send a message of hope and blessing to needy people all across Israel by donating to Guardians today. May God bless you!
