Help the Oppressed Escape to Freedom

Grateful for Fellowship Freedom Flights

As airports around the world closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hopes of Jews waiting to make aliyah (immigrate to Israel) were put on hold indefinitely.

But that didn’t stop The Fellowship. We continued working to make sure that when borders began to open, we could again make the dreams of thousands of Jews come true.

One of them, Vadym, couldn’t enter the school he wanted to because of the anti-Semitism in his native Ukraine. “I wanted to come to Israel because of the hostile attitude that exists in Ukraine toward Jews,” Vadym says. “It started in my youth, but I’ve had negative experiences as a result of my ethnicity many times in my life.

“Today, I very often hear that all the failures of the Ukrainian state are the fault of the Jews. I can’t express the terrible feelings I have every time I’m discriminated against because of my ethnic origin.”

There is another reason that Vadym has always longed to come to Israel. “Israel is where my roots are,” he says proudly. “I’d like to return home and be the one that ‘fits in’. Israel is a state that takes care of its citizens. It’s creating hope and brightness for the days to come. I’d like to be able to openly take pride in my Jewish origin without having to fear being discriminated against because of who I am.”

On May 19, Vadym took his first steps in Israel when he disembarked from a Fellowship Freedom Flight from Ukraine funded by The Fellowship’s generous Canadian supporters. He spent his first two weeks in quarantine at a hotel in Tel Aviv and is now excited to be starting his new life in the city of Ashdod.

Vadym, along with 109 other Ukrainians, are so happy to have made aliyah with The Fellowship, which has helped them every step of the way. But there are so many more Jews who are living with horrific anti-Semitism, poverty, political instability, and war, who are waiting to make aliyah. The demand has risen 20% in the past several months and the need is greater than ever.

Vadym is so grateful to The Fellowship. “The care and the attention you give to the olim (immigrants) is undeniable. Your approach to the aliyah process is extremely professional. Thank you!”

Please help us meet the growing needs of Jews around the world like Vadym, who want to live in peace, freedom, and safety in Israel, their biblical homeland. Your gift today will make it possible for us to provide much needed care for the destitute.

Please hurry and may God bless you for your compassion toward His people.
