Bitter Cold and a Cry for Help

The Fellowship has taken up this work as a high calling—and today we invite you to join with us in an Isaiah 58 Fast

It’s said there is nothing more caring than a grandmother’s love.

Sadly, even a grandmother’s love is not enough to fill hungry stomachs when a family is living in tragic poverty.

This is the case for Ludmilla, a destitute Jewish widow in the former Soviet Union, and her grandchildren, Julia and Maxim. Their house is really nothing more than a shack, always cold and wet. The dampness is taking a toll on the children’s health.

The painful truth is that without someone to help them this winter, Ludmilla and her grandchildren face grim suffering. And they are just three among tens of thousands of impoverished Jews in the former Soviet Union who are absolutely dependent on compassionate friends like you and our Isaiah 58 ministry.

The Lord spoke of caring for the neediest remnants of Israel as a “fast,” not to deny ourselves food, but “to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood” (Isaiah 58:7).

The Fellowship has taken up this work as a high calling—and today we invite you to join with us in an Isaiah 58 Fast to provide food, heating fuel, basic medicines, and other essentials this winter for desperate elderly Jews and children in one of the harshest regions on earth.
