I’m Alone in the World

With little money and unemployed parents, the children struggle to eat and stay warm…

Gvanza, 6, and her younger brother, Beka, 4, are living in extreme poverty and fighting every day to survive. With little money and unemployed parents, the children struggle to eat, stay warm, and keep up with doctor’s visits to stay healthy.

Gvanza is very young, but she already suffers from a terrible health condition: she was born with a congenital heart defect and has been battling for her life ever since. She has already had one major operation and will probably be taking medicine and visiting doctors for the rest of her life.

Luckily, Beka is in better health, but the two children have also had a rough time finding a secure home that can provide them with a kitchen or a bathroom. The family’s suffering began after they were evicted from the house where they lived with their father’s family. Gvanza and Beka were forced to spend a year and a half living in a tent where they nearly froze to death in the winter.

Today, the family lives in a house that they share with another woman and her baby. While they are grateful they don’t have to live in a flimsy tent, the conditions are terrible. They have no electricity or bathroom, and only an old, rotting sink. With no heat in the winter, the children still spend too many nights fighting to stay warm.

To help the children through their severe poverty and illness, IFCJ Canada provides the children with food cards and medicine, as well as utility subsidies for the family through our Isaiah 58 Fast. With so many challenges facing them, they are all so very grateful for the loving support and care that IFCJ Canada gives them.

Please join our Isaiah 58 Fast to help end the suffering of children like Gvanza and Beka.
