Spending Passover on the Edge of Starvation

A Blessing of Food and Faith

While Vlasta struggles to keep her children safe amid war and chaos, she also struggles daily with poverty. Their home has no running water – she must go out in the freezing cold to pump water for drinking, washing, and laundry…

Vlasta is doing her best.

Her husband, Ivan, looked for work in their rural Ukrainian town for years. But jobs are hard to come by in this war-ravaged country.

In desperation, he moved to a nearby city hoping to find work so he could support his family. That left Vlasta alone to care for their four children – 17-year-old Sofia, 16-year-old Maria, 9-year old Elizabeth, and 2-year-old Georgy.

While Vlasta struggles to keep her children safe amid war and chaos, she also struggles daily with poverty. Their home has no running water – she must go out in the freezing cold to pump water for drinking, washing, and laundry. In winter, the whole family huddles around a single space heater to stay warm.

This is where they will spend Passover, the sacred holiday celebrating God’s deliverance of the Jews from Pharaoh’s oppression.

If only this family could be delivered from the poverty they face! They long to celebrate Passover with the special foods needed for the seder, the main observance of this biblical holy day, but they live on the edge of starvation as it is.

My friend, this is where I pray you will intervene.

Your gift to our Passover Outreach will provide food and hope to Vlasta and her family, and to needy Jews like them in Israel and the former Soviet Union. Send a Passover food box with nutritious items and clothing vouchers, and we will deliver it to someone in dire need.

With your help today, we will reach our goal to deliver 16,000 Passover food boxes in the next month to help impoverished Jews. Join us in the privilege of being part of God’s provision to His people in need this sacred season.

Your blessing of food is also a blessing of faith! Please give today.
