Finding Comfort in The Fellowship

Feeling Alone in the World

The two of them wander from place to place, sometimes sleeping huddled in doorways…

Bogdan frequently sits on the sidewalk in the city of Chernovitz, Ukraine, hoping to sell wild blackberries he picks. When Bogdan finishes selling the batch of berries he’s picked that day, he makes his way back to his mother with the small amount of money he earns.

The two of them wander from place to place, sometimes finding a place to sleep for a few nights, sometimes sleeping huddled in doorways. In the winter, they went to a friends’ abandoned summer cabin in the woods. The cabin had no electricity, running water, or insulation. The inside was almost as cold as the outside, and the two of them never had enough warm clothing to wear, so they were constantly cold.

Svetlana and Bogdan eventually came under the care of our Fellowship-supported organization in the FSU. Their coordinator, Elena, developed a plan to help the mother and son.

Slowly, the Fellowship staff were able to make strides in the right direction. They helped Bogdan’s mother in her recovery from alcoholism and taught her how to care for herself and her son. Now when they deliver food and clothing from our generous Friends of The Fellowship, these items go to Bogdan and contribute to his well-being. They hope one day, both Bogdan and his mother will live happy and successful lives.

You can help children like Bogdan year-round by becoming a Friend of The Fellowship today with your monthly gift.
