Nina and Tanya: A gift of joy

Tanya, a Jewish child living in Russia, comes from a family torn apart by drugs and alcohol. She is fortunate today to live with her loving grandmother, Nina, who has become her legal guardian.

Because she is ineligible for government assistance, Nina is very poor and struggles just to meet her and her granddaughter's basic needs. There is never enough to eat. Tanya also has chronic allergies and heart and stomach conditions that have gone untreated because her grandmother cannot afford to buy medication.

Fortunately for Nina and Tanya, there is a Jewish community center in their city sponsored by The Fellowship's Isaiah 58 program. Tanya loves coming here every day after school to play with other children. The center also provides Tanya with food, clothing, medication, and psychological counseling to cope with her difficult family situation.

Though Tanya has suffered much during her young life, today her spirits are high. And, as Nina watches her granddaughter each day, she too is filled with joy. "Tanya asks me to come with her to the community center every day," she says. "God bless you all for all your good deeds you are doing through Isaiah 58!"

There are many more Jewish people like Nina and Tanya in need of Isaiah 58's compassionate care and assistance. Please give to Isaiah 58 today, and help us extend the lifesaving hand of this ministry to all in the former Soviet Union who are in desperate need.
