Christians in Canada make a difference with Isaiah 58
Here are just a few of the needy Jewish people throughout the former Soviet Union who have been helped by your donations to Isaiah 58.
The Lazuraitis Family -- Estonia
Sergei and Elena Lazuraitis are extremely devoted to their children — Miriam, 12, Jonas, 8, Jakov, 6, and Anna Roza, 1 — though it's been difficult for them to provide for them recently. Sergei's hours and salary have been cut as part of the government's economic crisis response, and Elena cannot work outside of the home as her two sons' development problems require several physical and speech therapy appointments each week. Thankfully, IFCJ Canada's
Isaiah 58 program subsidizes the cost of those appointments, and also covers dental work and eyeglasses for the children. In addition,
Isaiah 58 assists with food, utilities, diapers, transportation, and school supplies for this loving yet needy family.
Natalia — Azerbaijan
With a pension of less than $100 a month, Natalia, 96, is afraid to use the electricity in her tiny, one-room apartment, as she cannot afford to pay her gas or electric bills. An epileptic living alone, she often has seizures and has twice fallen and cracked her skull. IFCJ Canada's
Isaiah 58 program provides Natalia with food cards, homecare, winter relief items, basic household goods, and medicine for her seizures. And
Isaiah 58 recently paid for corrective surgery, which improved her vision considerably.
Martin — Estonia
When he was a baby, Martin's father died in an accident, leaving Martin to live with his grandmother, Nadezda. She cannot work due to her high blood pressure, and her 20-year-old daughter has chronic health problems as well. The family tries to live on the women's small disability payments, but it often isn't enough. Martin requires ongoing speech therapy and dental work (due to a congenital condition), which are thankfully now subsidized by IFCJ Canada's
Isaiah 58 program. They also provided him with a coat and boots for the winter, food vouchers and food packages, hot lunches in school, and school supplies. In addition,
Isaiah 58 helps Nadezda pay the family's utility bills so they can stay warm in the winter.
Your continued donations to Isaiah 58 will keep these needed programs running and will expand IFCJ Canada's reach to other needy Jewish people throughout the former Soviet Union.
