Shir: "God Answered My Prayers through The Fellowship"

Shir, her husband, and their three children live in a rundown apartment in Israel. Shir's husband works as a truck driver and Shir works at a supermarket, but their combined salaries barely cover the basic costs of living. "The children were raised in horrible conditions and it breaks my heart that this is what they are used to," Shir says. "Their standards of living are so low that I feel guilty as a parent."
Adding to their struggles, Shir's mother is often forced to rely on Shir for money because she must spend the majority of her meager government monthly stipend on medicine. "My mother's priority with her small income is rent and medicine, and only after she pays those bills does she buy groceries," she says. "Without her medicine she cannot live because she has a horrible heart condition."
Shir remembers the day her mother ended up in the hospital because she could not afford medicine. Knowing it was a matter of life or death, Shir bought the medicine with the money she had set aside to pay her electric bill. When the electric bill came due, all Shir could do is pray that a miracle would occur that would allow her to pay it.
The answer to Shir's prayers came from The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel program. After learning of Shir's plight, The Fellowship gave her a check to pay her electric bill. "When a representative from The Fellowship handed me that check I nearly fainted," Shir remembers. "I prayed to God so hard, and He answered my prayers through Guardians of Israel. Thank you so much for saving my family."
