Miriam, 55, the daughter of Holocaust survivors, made aliyah (immigrated to Israel) from Argentina in 1999.
Coming to the Holy Land was the realization of a lifelong dream for them. But then three years ago Miriam's husband deserted the family and returned to Argentina, leaving Miriam with the responsibility of raising three teenagers on her own. She found it difficult to master Hebrew, and struggled to pay her rent, utilities, taxes, and food and clothing expenses on the meager wage she earned as a hotel maid.
When her plight became known to social workers, Miriam was directed to the Colel Chabad soup kitchen, supported by donations to The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel program. Miriam admits she wouldn't be able to survive financially without the hot meals delivered daily to her family from the soup kitchen.
To make sure that Miriam and others like her do not go to bed hungry, please give generously today to Guardians of Israel. Your gift will help put their minds at ease - and remind them that others care about their plight.
