Fanya: Receiving Blessings from "God's Messengers"

Print Bookmark

Binyomin and Fanya, devoutly religious Orthodox Jews living in Jerusalem, are blessed with eleven children, ranging in age from 2 to 22. They live in a small three bedroom apartment and cut down on spending wherever possible. Binyomin works full time, but struggles to make ends meet.

In addition to the challenges faced by any large family living on a limited income, Fanya and Binyomin have two children with special needs. One daughter is permanently paralyzed after suffering brain damage at birth. One of their sons has Down's syndrome. On top of this, Fanya recently became sick, requiring her to take many expensive medical treatments.

Binyamin feared he would not be able to afford the costs of feeding his family. But with the help of Chasdei Yosef, a Guardians of Israel-sponsored organization that helps Jerusalem's poor, Binyamin's burden was eased. Chasdei Yosef provided Binyomin and his family with food and coupons to buy clothes. And when Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) came, the family even received a special food basket that helped them celebrate the holiday according to Jewish tradition.

Binyomin is deeply grateful for the help he has received. "Thank God for The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel," he says. "The whole year has been so difficult for my family. At least now the New Year will be happy.

"We were brought up to trust in God and thank Him for all the good he does for us. God has a plan and He has messengers who help Him carry out that plan. I want to bless you good Christians who are part of God's plans to help the Jewish people."
