Jews all over the world will soon celebrate Passover, commemorating the Exodus, when Moses led the Israelites from bondage in Egypt to freedom in the Promised Land.
Passover is eagerly anticipated by Jewish families who for over 3,000 years have been celebrating this festival marking the birth of the Jewish people as a nation. Sadly, there are thousands of impoverished families and individuals in Israel who do not have the resources to celebrate the Passover.
In fact, many of the elderly among these people are Holocaust survivors, who must make heart-rending choices every day between buying food or medicine, paying the rent or keeping themselves warm.
For these men and women, being able to purchase the special foods needed to observe Passover is out of the question.
But thanks to IFCJ Canada's generous Guardians of Israel, some 10,000 Passover food boxes are being distributed to needy Jews in Israel in time for Passover.
"Our ministry partners have generously supported this Passover food project," said Rabbi Eckstein. "I believe our friends sense the importance of providing these holiday foods because they understand the profoundly spiritual component of this particular project.
"Enabling needy families and individuals all across Israel, and in places like Ukraine and Russia, to properly observe the Passover is another huge witness of Christian love on the part of our supporters!
"It means everything to Jews to be able to observe Passover Seder. To have nothing to eat for Passover is not only stomach-wrenching, but spiritually heart-breaking. It is like being forbidden to worship. But thanks to our ministry friends like you, we are doing something to help," added the Rabbi.
And there is still much more to do! Your gift today to Guardians of Israel will help supply the funds used to purchase and distribute these 10,000 food packages. With tens of thousands of suffering Jews in daily need of life's basics, your contribution will allow The Fellowship to carry on with its lifesaving work. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you!
With prayers for shalom, peace.
