An increase in violence and anti-Semitism this year on innocent Jewish people across Europe and in the Middle East underscores Israel’s need both for constant vigilance and the support and solidarity of her friends.

In France, a young Jewish woman was attacked in a laundromat by an Arab mother and daughter, who hit her repeatedly and called her a “dirty Jew.”

In Ukraine, where civil unrest has emboldened those with anti-Semitic views, a Jewish teacher and student were violently attacked when leaving a synagogue at the end of Shabbat (Sabbath).

And in Jerusalem, four Jewish congregants at a synagogue were massacred by terrorists during morning prayers. These tragic murders are in addition to the Israelis killed in auto attacks and stabbings in recent weeks.

Rabbi Eckstein said in response to the increase in violence, "We continue to pray for the day when Israel and the Jewish people will enjoy true peace and rest from our murderous enemies. The prophet expressed our prayer and hope in these words in Zephaniah 3:13: "The remnant of Israel … will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid."

"But until that day comes,” Rabbi Eckstein says, “The Fellowship remains fully committed to helping the Holy Land as true Guardians of Israel, and providing resources both to help victims of the heinous crimes recover and to help support innocent lives from future attacks."
