Who isn’t dreaming of a unicorn cupcake or a whoopee pie every once in a while?

You probably expect that Israeli eateries will be serving up savory hummus or sweet rugelach, but you can also find the unexpected cinnamon bun bakeries, British high tea, and more.

Writers at Israel21c share their top ten unexpected food destination favourites:

Those pining away for Magnolia-caliber cupcakes can breathe a deep sigh of relief. Red Velvet is a Tel Aviv sweet shop with a cult following that will fulfil your desire for sweet treats (and who isn’t dreaming of a unicorn cupcake or a whoopee pie every once in a while?).

The shop is owned by Israeli Sharon Blumenfeld, who fell in love with sweets while studying for a law degree in New York and wanted to quell her cravings at home in Israel. If you ask us, she’s doing the job well. So, if you want your cupcakes for Israeli Independence Day, Red Velvet should be on your wish list for your next White City sweet fix.
