Apples are a traditional Hanukkah food, with a prayer recited just before eating them. Additionally, apples are incorporated into the recipes of the festive meal itself, like this delicious Kugel dish!

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat the oil, sugar and eggs together. Add rest of ingredients and bake in well-greased medium sized pan until set, about 1 – 1-½ hours. If you’d like, sprinkle brown sugar on top before putting in the oven. Serve warm.

Ingredients

  • 6 green apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ½ cup of oil
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 4 eggs
