Can We Pray For You

I bet you can recite the first verse of the 23rd Psalm along with me. It’s one of the most beloved Psalms, and has been from generation to generation one that we hide away in our hearts to treasure.

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”

David’s words that our loving God will provide for our needs have provided people of faith assurance for thousands of years.

But sometimes I think we misinterpret God’s love. We worry that asking Him for anything beyond our basic needs is selfish or wrong.

Later in the Psalms, we learn that God doesn’t just want to help us merely survive. He wants us to thrive.

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us” (67:1) is the psalmist’s prayer (and my prayer for you).

God wants us to ask Him for blessings so that His blessings can be shared not just with us, but with others. We know of His promise in Genesis to “bless those who bless” His people, Israel (12:3), and that the world will be blessed. Those blessings that we pray for - and that He graciously provides - are our witness to the world of His love and His power!

What blessings would you like to ask God to provide?

I know you will continue to pray for God’s blessing and healing for His people, Israel, as the COVID-19 pandemic makes a resurgence there, and as authorities again put in place some restrictions.

And I hope you will share your prayer request with your Fellowship family so that we can bring it to Him at the Western Wall in Jerusalem - the holiest place in the Holy City - in the near future.

Take a moment to think of the blessings God has promised us. Which of these blessings would you like to ask Him for, even as you ask him to bless Israel? Share your request now so that we can share it with Him in His Holy City, Jerusalem.
