Project Spotlight: Grandmother Knits

The Fellowship sponsors activities in 104 elderly clubs throughout Israel, so that elderly can spend time socializing with friends and volunteers, which helps combat loneliness.

At one of these elderly clubs in the Upper Galilee, The Fellowship hosted a local chapter of the “Grandmother Knits” program, where elderly women knit hats, socks, dolls, balls, and many more items to give to children in local hospitals. At the event, 20 women gathered and knitted warm clothing to distribute at the Ziv Medical Center in Tzfat.

The hospital then welcomed the grandmothers for a breakfast in the maternity wing, and afterward the grandmothers distributed the knitted products to the new mothers and all the hospitalized children.

As you can see from the photo to the right, the event was very exciting and emotional for all involved.

This project was made possible thanks to the cooperation between The Fellowship and many partners who contributed the wool for the knitting.

The grandmothers hope to expand the project to kibbutzim and communities in the Upper Galilee, bringing knitted products to every new mother in the area.

Join with The Fellowship in bringing joy this new year!
