My Father’s God

Dear Friend of The Fellowship,

“The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him” (Exodus 15:2).

As hard as it is to believe, we have just completed the first half of 2019. It has also been five months since my father, Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, passed away, and five months since I stepped into the position of president of The Fellowship. Needless to say it has been an intense, at times difficult, time in my life.

However, today I thank God for all that He has done. I am grateful to God for carrying The Fellowship and me through this challenging experience. I praise Him and recognize that it is only because of Him that we have come through it stronger than ever. I can feel “my father’s God,” the God that blessed my father in his ministry, blessing me as I continue his work. In fact, I can see now how God arranged my footsteps long before my father passed so that the transition would be as smooth as possible.

Several years ago, God placed the idea in my father’s heart to begin preparing me for leadership. He taught me the ins and outs of The Fellowship and showed me how to handle difficult or unexpected situations. He handed over many responsibilities and guided me through tasks that had previously been his domain. Moreover, for the last few years, my father concentrated on building an excellent team that could function even without him; a team made up of talented, dedicated, and hard-working individuals who work together.

It just so “happened” that a year before my father’s sudden passing the board of directors of The Fellowship selected me as president-elect. This assured that, the moment my father was no longer with us, there would be an easy shift from his leadership to my own.

I am humbled and honoured to report that since the beginning of the year, The Fellowship had become even more effective. Our reach has increased, and our programs fulfilling biblical prophecy are going strong. So far this year we have brought 2,146 olim (immigrants) from 25 different countries home to Israel. We served more than 160,000 meals at Israeli soup kitchens. More than 1,000 food cards were distributed to Iraqi Christian refugees living in Jordan. We also distributed 5,429 Passover food boxes and food cards to families in Israel. And there has been so much more … all of it due to your generous heart for Israel and the Jewish people.

As we turn towards the second half of this year, I pray that we increase our lifesaving aid to Jews around the world and continue bringing biblical prophecy to fruition. I ask that God help me serve His people with a loving heart, humble spirit, strong body, and wise mind. And I pray that God will bless our worthy partners just as He promised in Genesis 12:3, declaring, “I will bless those who bless you.” This is a holy partnership and I am so very grateful to be a part of it.

With blessings from the Holy Land,
