A Thank You Letter to The Fellowship

Oksana and Serhii Horlov made aliyah from Ukraine, on an IFCJ Canada Freedom Flight this past summer.

While the couple was still in Ukraine, they discovered that Oksana had an acute spinal problem which made it difficult for her to stand straight. Oksana is currently undergoing a series of tests and she may require surgery. Serhii is looking for work and helping Oksana as best he can.

Oksana and Serhii came to Israel without support outside of The Fellowship. They came without family or friends. They moved into an empty apartment without furniture or appliances. Slowly, they began to find objects and also purchased second-hand furniture.

They are suffering economically and are forced to do without many things including a washing machine. This meant that Oksana had to wash all of their clothes by hand. This caused her physical condition to deteriorate even further as it had a negative effect on her spine.

Following a visit to the couple's home by Evgeniya Zak, The Fellowship's absorption coordinator for Russian-speaking olim in the central region, The Fellowship provided them with a washing machine. This made life easier for Oksana, who no longer has to stand and wash the clothes by hand.

The following is the translation of a thank-you letter we received from Oksana and Serhii:

Dear Fellowship,

We want to say, "thank you" wholeheartedly for your help! Thanks to the assistance, Oksana complains less about back pain and is able to do many more things at home. Her depression has also passed! Thank you very much for being with us, and for the support you give us. We wish you lots of future success with everything you do.
