Three Generations Making Aliyah Together

I’ve always been impressed by the Israeli approach towards providing healthcare. The level of scientific research and practical application has no equivalent in the world.

The Sturman family consists of five members, Dmytro, age 32, his wife Tetiana age 34, their son Daniil, age 5, and Dmytro's parents, Zhanna, age 60, and Borys, age 65.  The three generations made the decision to make aliyah together from Ukraine and recently arrived in Israel on an IFCJ Canada-funded Freedom Flight.

When asked for the reason behind the family's decision to make aliyah, Dmytro, answers, "I’ve always been impressed by the Israeli approach towards providing healthcare. The level of scientific research and practical application has no equivalent in the world.”

“That’s why I applied for a sponsorship for young doctors in 2017, and participated in a program in Haifa. In 2018, I successfully passed a state exam and I'm looking forward to continuing my work as a professional in Israel.  I believe this employment will enable me to provide a decent future for my child.”

As for the impact of the financial crisis in Ukraine on the family, Dmytro says, "The financial crisis has hurt us severely.  The monthly salary of a doctor is about 200 dollars. My wife has left an administrative position at the state university and started working as a freelance interpreter. The situation was much better before the crisis.”

“We are hoping to find appropriate employment in accordance with our qualifications.  Of course, we hope that the money we earn will also be sufficient to support our parents."

When asked about the decision to make aliyah with The Fellowship, Dmytro explains, "While we thinking about making aliyah, we considered the positive feedback and experiences of our friends who have already made aliyah with you.  We received incredible encouragement from that."
